The mare pranced nervously where she stood by the mouth of the cave. Her first time meeting another horse of a different element. Although she was a muddle she was mainly water. Her mother had taught her the ways of the waters. Her father was fire but she had not one ounce of fire in her brain. It bothered her that her own half blood relatives had tried to kill her for being a muddle. She hated them. She stood a little bit longer at the mouth of the cave.

A nervous chill spread accross the stallions back as he jogged swiftly into the lands of the Shared. He had of course no intention of staying here for too long in case he was threatened by those of the fire but he was also curious to meet those of the other lands. From what he had heard the Water and the Earth were quite peaceful horses in their own respect but of course he knew that it was not possible for any of them to ever join together in an alliance - not right now at least. His family was too set on keeping the linage pure and Wind. His dapple crest was there to prove it.
Looking into the distance he spotted the mouth of a cave and a small figure standing at the enterence. He squinted his eyes to get a better view but could only make out that the figure was a horse. Maybe a lost mare? It was his duty as a gentleman to help out those damsels in distress and he would be nothing but a common mule if he were to neglect his duty. With his head held high and proud he cantered toward the mare and stood only a few meters away from her, she didn't look like a Fire type but there was something else there too. Watching in quiet for a moment he then opened his mouth to introduce himself.
"The name's Braden. I'm of the Wind, forgive me for asking but are you of the Water? I'm slightly confused." He asked in the politest tone possible but he kept his voice strong and masculine for appearence sake.

Ruemira stood back, surprised. "Well yes. I am of Water but....how did you know?" She realized how rude she must have sounded. "Oh, I'm Ruemira." She was feeling very glad that he wasn't a Fire. She was, after all, still somewhat wanted by the fires. "I'm sorry if I seemed rude. I've never met a wind before now."

"I guessed. You certainly have the eyes of water... quite amazing eyes actually." He replied admiring the abnormality of those pretty little eyes she had. He had never seen any horse with such strangely but beautiful colored orbs. He had dark brown eyes which was common amongst horses and that dapple coat that was so pure Wind breeding that it was hard to mistake him for anything else. Walking a little bit closer to her he stopped and studied her once more to try to pick up on anything he might od missed. Even if she said she was Water he couldn't be sure.
"Not rude at all Miss. Actually, you are quite right to question with all the strange folk around here. This is only my second time meeting a Water myself as I tend to keep myself to myself, I hardly ever come here much anymore. It was just by chance I bumped into you."
Smiling, he lifted his gaze to meet hers. He meant no harm to the Water Horses and of course he would never harm a mare Fire or not. He just hoped they were not too easily offended by his slightly obnoxious behavior.

Ruemira smiled. "Thank you." Her eyes were quite lovely. A warm violet color. "Well, you certainly have an eye for elements." She nickered and looked at him for a moment. "Your coloring is quite nice. Are all winds dappled?"

"Not all Winds are, mostly just the ones pure of blood and whatnot. That's what I've been told anyway, my dapple is from my Father's side... about the only thing of his actually." Such a deppressin topic family was. It seemed like only yesterday that he was frolicking around the fields with his mother with his Father watching sternly over them. His little brother had inherited this color of dapple too but it was not so brought out as his it was slightly darker as well.
Shifting slightly he forwarded the conversation with interest. He was curious abou the Water Tribe and their ways. He hardly even knew this lady and already he wanted to dive into her life a little more and discover new things.
"What about you? Is bay quite a common coloring where you come from?"

"It's a beautiful color." Ruemira said. She thought about her family. Her horrible father and her kind sweet mother. She cringed at the thought of her father's side. "Actually no. White is the water's main color. But, I'm not.......all water....." She sighed. It felt good to tell the truth. This stallion didn't seem like the type to kill her true kind. "I'm....a muddle." She whispered. "My father was Fire."

He was quiet for a short time before nodding. He knew it! There was something there that wasn't quite pure but then again there was something of a pure spirit he couldn't explain. Braden was a stallion who had been brought up all of his life to shun the impure as they were dirty inbreds who stole everything but he didn't feel at all like shunning her. She seemed a bit like him in a sense only with a bit more... girly parts.
"Oh... That's what it was. Sorry about that, I just spaced out for a moment. Still, I think being a muddle doesn't sound so bad, characeristics from both parents and no need to mate with your cousin! - not like I'd mate with mine or anything... My parents... well, that's not important. Er, do you want to take a walk with me?"
Quite a stupid time to ask that question but if he stayed there too long they might attract some unwanted attention. He didn't want dear Daddykins coming to claims his daughter back and beating him up. It was more for her protection than his as muddles were frowned upon in most Tribes as he had found out.

Ruemira sensed his nervousness. "My parents are both dead. You won't need to worry about my father if that's what it is." She sighed "Being a muddle is fine if your father isn't a fire and your mother a water. Polar opposites quite literally. I'm technically wanted by the fires. They killed my father because he didn't give up who his muddle daughter was. You'd think he was 'noble' or 'kind' but he wasn't. He killed a fair few muddles himself. I always wondered why he didn't kill me." She stood and held back tears. "Yes, let's walk."

With a familiar feeling of guilt on his shoulders he apologized for acting in that way when she was abviously upset about it. He had already lost one parent but to loose two it was just too much.
"I would say 'I know how you feel' but I really don't. I lost my Pop a few years ago to illness. He wasn't exactly the fatherly figure I imagined but he was always fair to me."
He sighed and started to walk steadily into the cave some more. He had never been here before and the small stones at the bottm of the cave dug into his feet which annoyed him greatly.
"Quite dark in here isn't it?"

"I'm sorry about your father. It's sad when you lose someone that's close to you. I honestly don't mind my father is dead. He killed many of my true kind and he managed to get many mares pregnant." Ruemira walked into the cave next to Braden and felt the stones on her hooves. "Yes it is very dark." She strained her eyes to try and see what was ahead of her.

Trying but failing to put on a brave face in front of the lady, he stopped suddenly as a single bird flew out of teh cave from its nest in the wall.
"Yikes! You'd think they'd have the decency to give you a warning eh? Well anyway, I don't mind what happened to you before. I guess it's just who you are that matters now."
It was strange to hear those words coming from him who sworn to his Tribe that he would uphold the Wind name and shun those of ill-breeding. What would it matter anyway? He was probably never going to be able to see thi mare after this meeting was over, that was how it was with horses of different types.
"We shouldn't go to far in in case there is a collapse or something. I don't fancy being stuck in here for too long."

Ruemira nodded. She watched the bird fly to a tree limb and laughed softly. "That scared me too!" She walked a bit farther into the cave. The stones slipped around under her hooves. They felt wet. She looked up to see the long rocks forming. "Good idea I'm getting out of here." She trotted out of the cave and stood. "So, have you ever met another muddle before?" Her eyes sparkled with curiousity.

Shaking his head he followed soon after, eager to leave the cave. He had never met a muddle before which she could probably have guessed with his obvious nerves at the start of their meeting. He was getting over it though.
"Not at all. I've never really come accross anyone from another Tribe really, I was rather restricted in my upbringing see."
Once at her side he shook his mane to rid himself of the non-existant bat poo that might have somehow got in his mane.

"Restricted?" Ruemira knew what he probably meant. So many tribes were stuck on the old ways. Pure colors and pure bloodlines were the only ones who existed. That all changed after a while. It truly changed when Indigo had given birth to the first muddle. Although Ruemira suspected that there were muddles long before that.
