People believe there is nothing beyond the end of the oceans, believing they have already discovered all land and registered it to their hundreds of maps. They had already found all the stray islands, returning to their computers to type for hours on end, while one island still remains hidden. However, it isnt an island they have missed, they overlooked an entire continent. Lost out at sea, even where the human race hasnt tamed the wilderness, the immeasurable land mass sits, flourishing with its beauty as the world around it seems to pass by...A hellish storm hit the ocean that surrounded the vast lands. Mighty forests shook as the gales whipped at their roots, tearing them from their bed. Topographies laid in ruins, the sound of snapping trees and other vegetation echoing like an eerie scream from the Goddess of Life. The continent was not the only one plagued by this storm. A ship, caught out at sea, with storage of many equine rocked in the waves. The horses watched in fear, as from the opening above, where each looked everyday for escape from the dreary storage, water poured in like a waterfall. Foals struggled to keep above the abounding amount of water, some, perishing at their dams feet. In the colossal struggle to escape the rising water, horses snapped and kicked at their chain leads that held them tightly to the walls. The storm tossed the ship, the horses inside forced around by the strength, rammed into steel walls, and each other. Many legs broke, horses drowning as they tried to get back to the surface. Others skulls were crushed between steel walls and other bods. Few horses remained calm as the bodies around them began to float, crimson flowing from their corpses. Outside, the humans clung to poles, crying, as they knew they would never see their loved ones again. An immense wave towered over the ship, slamming down with the force of a god, and washed the men away. Water poured through the opening, just as horses were slammed into the steel walls once more. To some, luck had struck, their rusty chain leads snapped, and they rushed for an escape, swimming through bodies and blood stained water. Twenty-four total horses had made it to the deck after the wave had struck. Rain struck their hides, chilling to the marrow in their bone. Heads swung around, as they looked for, once more, an escape...

Winds of Change: A Civilization Gone[...] [no aff] « Result #19 on May 28, 2008, 2:58pm »
Just to clear things up, we are different than the other winds of change on this board. We've been around for much longer No worries.
------------------
Name: Winds of Change
Difficulty: Advanced (1,000 words minimum example post, 500 words minimum normally.)
Species: Wild Horse RPG
Activity: Excellent (150+ members)
Plot:
A lone figure is silhouetted in the moonlight, facing the east. His name is Timeless, Emperor of Winds of Change, King of all that the light touched and Lord if his terra. He watches the sky, dark optics reflecting the pinpoints of light. No sound is heard; it is unearthly. A form appears from the foliage and come to stand beside him. It is Lapse, his Empress, Queen and Lady. Their orbs meet but not a sound is issued. Together they look up at the black velvet cover that hangs over them. A soft deep rumbling is emitted from the brutes diaphragm, starting soft but growing with power. As they stare intently at the eastern ridge, the first ray peeps out from behind a distant mountain. The lord continues his song as the deep blue of the sky turns to a bright shade of red. The song slowly fades away and they look upon the burning orb, optics watching the fiery center. Then, turning to face the western end, their voices entwine in a song more beautiful than the first. Together they sing, lost in the power of the melody. When it stops, a rustling starts from behind them, growing louder and louder. The royals wait patiently and soon their patience is rewarded. One after another, the multitude of equines pours into the valley, gazes intent upon the pair on the rise. Not a nicker or call is heard. Soon the valley is filled to overflowing and all movement is stopped. The Lord steps forward then pauses. He looks down on the host, as if lost in thought. Suddenly he reaches into the air, daggers thrashing through the air. He calls to his herd, a short deep call, and they respond mightily. As one they too reach to the sky, answering his call. The lord lands back onto the sod and steps back to his Lady. Her soft nicker is heard throughout the valley and they all turn to leave. Soon not a flint is in sight and it is just the two royals again. Lapse turns and fades into the foliage. Timeless looks for a moment into the valley, where just minutes before had been filled with equines. Then he too fades into the darkness, leaving the valley silent and empty.
Yes, that was what it was like. Since the beginning of its time, Winds of Change was always a prosperous and happy land. Sure it had its share of troubles, but in the end everything was always sorted out and everyone went on living as they always did. But then something happened. The Immortals started disappearing. First was Jamboree, lord of the Drafts, who gave up his position for love and died soon after that. Then Lapse, lady of the lands, vanished and was never seen again. Finally Timeless, the last remaining Immortal and ruler of Winds of Change, bid goodbye to the mortals that he had so long ruled over. But he did not leave them without help. Three guardians were named, and told to look after the land the Immortals loved so dearly. And they did for a while. Inferno, Jagg, and Kahlua took care of Winds of Change to the best of their abilities. But then, Jagg retired from his position, saying that he would take it back up when not being so close to his family was as necessary as it was then. Kahlua soon died after he had done so. Inferno, Kahluas lord, fell completely apart with the death of his dearly beloved Kahlua and abandoned his duties. None of the three named a guardian to succeed and care for the lands while they took care of their own lives. And so Winds of Change has fallen into chaos, with no enforcement of the rules by anyone.
All types now mix together, normals, drafts, and minis all can reside on the same terrains. But because of the majority of equine types are normals, often the drafts and minis are kicked out of their homes, left to be wanderers and nomads. They dare not fight back, knowing that with so many of the normals living in Winds of Change, they would easily be killed. To add to this, more and more of the darker alliance of equines are finding homes in Winds, where they wreak havoc and spread chaos. Mares are stolen and fights over nothing occur. Mares of this dark type make mischief and add to the confusion in the herds. All round, Winds of Change is failing in its reputation of a happy and fair land. When will this end? No one knows, for only one who is strong can make a difference in this land of utter disorder.
Enter into the famous lands of Winds here and delve into the drama

Name: Nym Link: http://equinox.proboards77.com/v45index.cgi? History/Plot: [more to it on site] Time has gone on since man has left the land we call earth, the continents have merged created another Pangaea, but according to us we'd like to call it The Equinox. It is our revelation, and we have chosen to take the place of man, hooves over feet. The streets are cracked and the buildings crumbling with the remembrance of age, the wilderness leaking its way in the hierarchy of the sky scrappers. We ourselves have no alliances, only colonies formed like large kingdoms, our lands are split by the winds, and our hearts are hunted by all the beasts.
part I : the tale
My name is Sarabi, I'm a Mustang x Astrologia cross of the Corner Band, and I also reside as it's Queen. The tale of the Equinox is an ancient tale that has been passed down the generations. The original story was told by my great great grandmother, Ora, who had witnessed it herself. Through all that was happening, no body could predict another Pangaea, which is now known as The Equinox. The last Pangaea happened millions of years ago, when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth. It is known as a super continent. Simply put, it is a large mass of land that is created when all continents of the Earth form together. This leaves just two oceans, and one continent. It's a different world from what it used to be. A horse's life has become longer, and more prosperous without man running about trying to capture or kill us. Our culture has changed as well. No longer are we labeled by our alliance. The alliances are long dead, which creates less wars between the new labels called Winds. Winds are divided by location. Where you come from labels you, as well as your breed and your attitude. How did this all start? Well as Ora had told it, it all started with the end of the alliances.

There was peace once, though by now it is but a distant memory in the minds of those old enough to remember. There was order and cohesion, and nothing to fear. The Keepers of Hesperides stayed within their walled Haven, and none disrupted their peace. There was always a rumor that an object of unspeakable power lay hidden within those great walls, but in time the rumor grew dull with age. But now a young stallion, maddened with greed, is gathering all the information he can about this mysterious object of celestial power. Flanked by the powerful drafts of the northern lands, he is murdering and taking prisoners left and right. There is only a handful of southern herds that stand against him, led by the mysterious Theseus. If they are vanquished, the Keepers will be on their own. Chaos and uncertainty abound. How much longer can the forces of reason hold off this madman?
The board is set, the pieces are in play. Whose side will you join?

For more than a million years, horses have inhabited the lands called Yretsym, but over those millions of years, the horses have begun to change in ways once not thought possible. They have been greedy, split up into groups called LIGHTS, NEUTRELS, and DARKS. Each name given to each alignment accordingly so. A typical dark horses personality may differ: one may love to inflect pain, some have a devil-may-care attitude towards things, and some try to stay away from it all. Whatever the personality, they all have one thing in common: they hate lights and most neutrals. Neutrals prefer to stay the way things were back when the lands first started out, friendly to both dark and light. The lights have adapted a motto: forgive and forget. Unfortunately, the light horses just couldn't let this apply to the darks.

Bob Marshal Horse Park~Endless Possibilities « Result #23 on Jan 25, 2008, 8:53pm »
Hello everyone! I just thought I would take a moment to let you know about a new stable role play forum. It is called Bob Marshal Horse Park. Located just on the border of the renowned Bob Marshal Wilderness in Montana, this horse park has everything you could possibly need, or want for your riding needs. There are three horse barns, each containing 25 stalls, 10 cross-ties, and a large. spacious tack room. Out side there are numerous paddocks where your horse can be let out in his free time to stretch his legs and graze. There is a large indoor arena that can be used for dressage, an outdoor arena with a jumping course set up, a cross-country course (with multiple routes depending on the horse and rider's skill level), a western rodeo ring, and both a sod and turf race track
With so many different options, the possibilities seem endless at Bob Marshal Horse Park.
I am currently looking for staff members to help out around the forum. Positions that are open are Co-admin, moderators, and a graphic design specialist.
Andromidia Exile « Result #25 on Jan 16, 2008, 5:07pm »
ANDROMIDIA EXILE THRIVE OR PARISH BY THE SEA
This is Andromidia, this is a world devoid of the concept of "Lights, Darks, Neutrals, King and Queens." But how that can be! Well let me tell you my friends for in a time before these things where the common everyday of the rp world there were "herds" those of you who are older know what i am speaking of i am sure and with that lets begin.
Peace has reigned in the Land come to be known as Andromidia Exile. Within it are four herds, only one is lead so far and by the arrogant and demeaning Son Kez. So much of the lands nicknamed Exile have yet to be filled that it is as if you walk alone. To live in Exile is to live for survival, to see the sun the next day and know that you will live on. AE is geared toward those who already know what they are doing and more or less want a friendly, easy and safe environment to let some stem off. To perhaps rp like we did in the old days. Free of complication and the burdens of internal politics.
While we only have a word minimum of 200 words we expect all our members to be literate, well mannered and polite. I do not ever want to see excessive spelling and grammar mistakes in posts. Use proper terms and please do not use adjectives such as 'stag' and 'vixen' its bad form and makes me very sad. It makes me sad beacuse i know that of you that are seriously interested in joining AE can do better than that. You should push yourself to be your best with in reason. Questions, comments feel free to PM the Admin account.
STAFF Xavier & Jema MEMBERS: JUST OPENED for the new year FORUM AGE: Created August, 2007
Types of animals allowed: Eastern Timber Wolves and Great Plains Wolves
Humans allowed?: Never
Magic allowed?: Nope
Setting: Present day
General Theme: Light vs. Neutral vs. Dark, loosely based off of "Wolf's Rain" in that Paradise was found, lost, forgotten, and now the alphas of the three packs want to find Paradise to reveal it to their pack alone. Realistic wolves.
NOTE: There really is no good way to shorten this, so bear with us. It's long but a good story. Enjoy. ^^
It was dark, nightfall to be utterly truthful. The sun had just shone it's last few rays of hope upon the lands of the wolves moments before the last few birds dove into their nests. Alone in a small meadow lay a group of pups along with an elder wolf. The sat around, facing each other. A little shy wolf pup named Kiba with a brilliant white coat, yelled from the back, speaking to the elder, "Sss...sir, will you tell the story of how the three packs came to be?"
The group rose their voices into a single crying yes. The elder, overwhelmed by the pups eagerness to know their own histories, chuckled, his voice raspy with his age. Coughing and clearing his throat, he said, "Settle down now, settle down. Karo don't make me send you to your mother!" And with such words the little one immediately stopped biting and bullying the others and soon they all settled down into a little crowd of eyes and ears, wide open and waiting for their favorite story.
And so, with an attentive audience he began,
Long ago, there was peace among the three wolf packs. They were, at once, one large pack. Everyone knew each other and everyone got along. And yet... such peace and happiness could never truely last. Humans came into their lives, destroying whatever they could find. Destroying the trees, dens, grasses, and worst of all... the wolves' food.
He told them, with his voice ever quiet, forcing them into complete silence, of Hrimhari the Kind. Of how her fur was as white as the untainted morning snow. Of how her eyes of perfect blue glittered and shown with the brilliance of a thousand stars. He told them of her small body, of her dainty self. Told them how in her wake flowers bloomed no matter weather or time, how she glowed with such a radiance that she held a golden aura. He told them... of Hrimhari the Sweet and how she brought forth to the world kindness and love. How she filled it with goodness and peace and tranquility.
Next he spoke of The Tainted Fenrir. Of how she suffered and how she felt the pain of the world, the burdens. How she carried the strife that ran opposite of her sister... How she brought to the world desire and passion and seductive beauty as death marked her steps. Her eyes an unrelenting torrent of green, her body an unblemished black. Her body lean and well muscled, the body of one use to work.
After speaking of The Sister there was only one left to tell them. The soul brother of the duo, the master Nerah. He told them of his grey, grey fur. Of his gentle brown eyes that told of his woe and his worry. Told of how in his steps enlightenment fallowed as he brought order and wisdom among his people and his sisters, for his leadership was evident.
He told them how they looked about the earth and saw beauty destroyed. How they saw everything touched turned to ash and they could not help but wonder if all the world was like this. And so their search began and so their search continued and when asked why they walked for endless eternity, they spoke, We search for the untouched Paradise. And yet the three went about their search differently...
Hrimhari believed that Paradise would show itself to those who where good. Those who did good things would have good things happened to them and so she went about the world helping the ill and the pained. Raising them from strife's grip she set them at fortunes table. And while she went about her good deed Fenrir, habiting to do the opposite, believed that strength was absolute. That if one wished to gain entrance to Paradise one must be strong and one must be worthy. And so she ventured the world in search of strength. Cutting down whoever hindered her progress. Nerah, the man of three, however, practiced a different route in search. He believed that Paradise would ultimately come no matter what... one must but looked to find and so he simply walked days on end, his eyes open and his ears ever ready to hear the calls of Paradise.
And so Hrimhari walked the High Path in search of Paradise. And so Fenrir walked the Low Way in search of Paradise. And so Nerah walked the Middle Road in search of Paradise.
And so the three ultimately found it. One day they laid their heads to rest and one day when morning called they found everything they knew gone and replaced They found themselves in a place of perfection and peace, adored with everything that fueled their desires they found a place untouched, lacking corruption of the world they treaded through they smiled and celebrated. For they found the place of myth, you see, they found Paradise.
They stayed there many days but soon argument awoke. Which way had been the way to find Paradise, the wondered. Who was right and who was wrong? Surely they could not all be correct in their assumptions. The arguments escalated until the faithful day that blows where stuck. That words no longer where just words as they fought and the wolfs blood soaked into the ground of Paradise and the three where cast out, exiled and yet
They where commended for being the firsts. Commended as the First to arrive to Paradise, but Paradise was cruel in some respect. Those who could not lay their head in Paradise and remain peaceful would no longer be, that was the way of things and none of the three wolves, mortal in every right, could not challenge this. And yet though they cease to be they did not cease to exist with the mercy of Paradise ever present. Their bloodlines where laid, their blood was kept in the generations Their names in the callings of the Three Packs Their teaching in the way the Three Packs lived. Though they no longer live They do not cease to exist.
And yet time has passed and though the Three Packs still live and though they still practice the ways of their founders. They seem to have forgotten Paradise truly does exist. It seems Paradise is nothing but a fairytale now and it seems that Paradise is just Yet, stories have arisen. Stories that say that the first wolf of the three packs that lays a paw on Paradise will find that Paradise will morph to be the Paradise the founder envisioned
Much mystery and lore has surrounded the Paradise the founders knew... to the point that one is uncertain of what is true and what is not. So one is left to wonder... what path to fallow. Which path will lead them to Eternity in a place that is said to be the place of Ultimate Perfection... Left also to wonder, if they will ever know the secrets of Paradise.

Equines of Ashland - Affliate « Result #29 on Dec 30, 2007, 7:56pm »
equines of ashland a wild-mythical horse roleplay based on the breed created by effix
click! ____________________________________________________ [x]EoA is based on a created breed that adheres to strict social standings where their society is based on base color, mutations and colored markings. The Hybridae Equus(copyright to effix) is a highly intelligent, social breed of equine. They thrive on daily interaction with others of their kind and there are rarely quarrels among the herds because of the way the herds are segregated. Mares are powerless, stallions and power hungry. Fillies are often used in deals between herds and males are often so skittish about other stallions that they often kill all colts born except their heir because they don't want a threat to their throne. ____________________________________________________ basic information the equines that reside in ashland are more of a hybrid type of creature. they possess mutations, wings, cloven hooves ect., but their body type, breed and base colors are the same as a normal horse. these equines that live in ashland are called hybridae equus, the scientific term that is tossed at them for their hybrid type. they come in all basic horse colors and carry the genes for normal horse markings but they also carry genes for wings, horns and colored markings, like blue blazes and silver socks.
genetics regular equine genetics apply to base colors and markings. however, when it comes to their mutations, the genes are as follows: wings - WW, Ww, ww(no wings) cloven hooves - HH, Hh, hh(cloven hooves) feathered wings - FF, Ff, ff(no feathers) dragon/bat wings - DD, Dd, dd(dragon/bat wings) unicorn horn - UU, Uu, uu(no horn) lion tail - LL, Ll, ll(no lion tail, normal horse tail)
All first generation horses(i.e horses not born on EoA) are considered homozygous for their mutations. All second generations and onward that are foaled will be genetically correct according to their parents and will be given their set of mutation genes apon birth.
society the equines here and highly social animals and if a horse has the correct base color but the wrong mutations, they are often accepted into the herd but will stand out. the horses here thrive on strict social orders and a dictator like leader. what the lead says, goes, no matter what. the herdmistress is more like a mare to carry the heirs to the throne, nothing more, nothing less. in their society, males are superior and femals are used for breeding. males are highly territorial and will fiercely guard their females. most males are reluctant to have more then three extra males in their herd unless they are very war oriented and feel like building up an army. the lead breeds with all his mares, his herdmistress is just their to give him heirs to the throne and is always dethroned from her position if she does not foal a colt on the maiden mating. after that, if she foals a colt she is sometimes dethrone depending on the stallion. fillies are highly valuable after the heir if given because fillies are often used for trading and deals among herds.
base, markings colors and mutations and their importance to the equines here, they base color is the most important to them. if the horse is a grey but has a horn and the right marking colors to join the bay/chestnut herd, it won't be accepted. if the horses had to pick one thing to go by it would be the base color and that's often what they do go by, that and only that. most of the time the only equines who fufill each requirement are the herdmaster, herdmistress and their foals. the patterns of a horse(i.e paint and apploosa patterns, as well as brindle, birdcatcher ect) are of little importance to the horses here. the markings colors are next on the importance list. if everything fits but the marking color is wrong, the equine is often accepted anyway but the leaders like their herds to be uniform in every way possible. ____________________________________________________ [x]Care to join us? The equine want your hybrid monster. The yearning to be free, the yearning to be given some kind of responsibility. The gods have forwarned these horses that a rebellion may ensue because of their social order. The mares heeded the warning and have tried to change it. But those stubborn males won't budge. Well, all except that is, Tutnir. Hated by the rest of the males, he let's his herdmistress run the herd while he scouts for members. The thunder was thrown, the war erupted and the gods spared Tutnir because of his attitude. Tutnir had one son, Aker, who now rules his herd and hopes to restore Ashland to it's once former glory. Care to help? ____________________________________________________ Our Banner
